It is the end of September 2016 and it is time to take out the Swiss chard aka Silver Beet. It has been a great success and while we never buy it we have found that the flavour is great so we can use it for salads and soups. An added bonus it has looked lovely through winter.
Once it was all harvested and removed some chicken pellets and blood and bone were added to the soil and then I built a trellis. It will be interesting to see how well this works for the cucumbers when they are planted. Last year I used tomato cages and also planted corn and while we had some cucumbers there were not many. There will be no corn this year just cucumbers so no competition.
